June 6th, 2011
Dear Friends, Shavua Tov and Hodesh Tov,
First, we would like to wish you happiness and good health in this very important month of Sivan, the Hebrew month in which according to our tradition, we received the Torah at Mount Sinai.
May 29th 2011
Dear Friends, Shavua Tov,
The month of May has been so hectic, we hardly have the time to report about all our activities, but I would like to briefly mention some of the most significant ones.
May 13th, 2011
Dear Friends, Shalom,
Tomorrow we will read Parashat “Be’Har Sinai” which tells us about special rules concerning the land of Israel. Some of the rules we are looking at when reading Parashat Be’Har Sinai are: Fallow Year, the sabbatical year of the land and the year of jubilee. Both commandments are dealing with liberation, one of land and one of slaves.
At Or Hadash we have been through a very meaningful and symbolic time recently, from commemorating the holocaust Memorial Day, through Memorial Day for fallen soldiers and terror victims which was colcluded with a very special ceremony called “Ayelet Ha’Shahar”, all the way to Independence Day.
I`m sending you a few momentos of these past few weeks since our last newsletter.

Dear Friends, Shalom,
Yesterday we read Parashat “Kedoshim” that teaches us to be priestly people based on ethical behavior and moral laws. “Love thy Neighbor as Yourself” is among the most important ones for us at Or Hadash. With this feeling that we need to fulfill the Mitzvah of loving our neighbors, I will tell you about events that happened at Or Hadash in the last two weeks. Our Passover was very successful, filled with beloved guests, celebrations and prayers every day. My apologies for being too busy… we couldn`t find the time to send out our weekly newsletter.

Dear Friends,
First, I would like to wish you and your family a very happy and healthy Pesach holiday!!
Pesach is a major Jewish springtime festival celebrates the biblical exodus from Egypt, but its focus on freedom in general has earned it a special place on the Jewish calendar.
Passover is usually marked as a family celebration of Jewish freedom and a time of hope and togetherness. At Or Hadash this year we will have many different Seders to share the feeling of family, freedom, and new beginnings with those who are in need of a caring and supportive environment. Some of our guests at the Seder table this year include: Those who do not have a family or a home; Holocaust survivors, overseas friends and family members.
Dear Friends,
This week I returned from another very meaningful visit to ten sister Reform congregations in the Boston area. It never ceases to amaze me how much I miss all our good friends in Boston and how much I feel at home with each and every one of them.

Dear Friends Shalom,
Tomorrow we will read Parashat “Tzav”, which is the second Parasha in the book of Leviticus. The book of Leviticus teaches us in depth about worship through sacrifices. In Hebrew the root of the wordrefers both to sacrifice and getting closer to one another – L’hitkarev and also L’Hakriv are from the same root.
Getting closer to each other is always important, always right and always present. It is time we got closer to one another, closer to God, to tradition and to friends in our town and across the globe. It is very important for us at Or Hadash to continue being closer to you: our dear and cherished friends overseas.
March 14th, 2011
Dear Friends, Shalom!
Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and survivors of this terrible disaster in Japan. As we continue our lives, we hope for the best and for good news from the disaster area.
Dear Friends,
Shavua Tov!
We had such a busy week and Shabbat, that we didn`t have time to send out our newsletter. It all began on Thursday, Feb. 17th 2011.
Yesterday we read Parashat ‘Tetzave’ which teaches us the importance of maintaining the light of Judaism (Ner Tamid) alive.

Dear Friends,
Hodesh Tov, A Good Month!
The new secular year 2012 got off to a great start for Or Hadash. Although it has been very cold in Haifa the last few of weeks, it doesn`t compare to what our East Coast friends are experiencing in America these days. |

Dear Friends,
Tomorrow we will read Parashat Vayeshev, which opens the third part of the book of Genesis, which consists of the four parashot (Torah portions) of Joseph’s stories in Egypt. In other words, in the second part of the book we hear the stories of our ancestors Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sara, Rebecca, Rachel and Lea and now we begin to hear the stories about the children of Jacob - Israel.
Joseph was a righteous man who was committed to telling the truth to his family even though they found it difficult to hear and relate to his dreams.
I believe a true leader should always speak his mind even when truth is not easy to accept and people are not always willing to hear it.
Fortunately, we only have good news to tell you about at Or Hadash. We apologize for the delay in sending out our newsletter, it has been yet another extremely hectic month with three B’nai Mitzvah celebrations each week, so many activities and as much as we tried we simply didn`t get to putting everything in writing until now.
And now we will tell you about our last few weeks of many activities at Or Hadash: |

Dear Friends, Shabbat Shalom,
Tomorrow we will read Parashat VaYira, the fourth Torah portion which tells about God’s revelation to Abraham. Parashat VaYikra is an extremely powerful and intriguing portion involving the very origin faith of Jews since it deals with revelation and many other issues, as well as the binding of Isaac, son of Abraham at the end.
My belief says that as much as life is complex and complicated at times, we always have moments of enlighten, of revelation, where we can see the light, blessing and abundance of God.
